Our editorial aim

is to be an easy to read news journal, that attracts readers in both the polymer industry as well as the engineering industry.

Great importance is given to reporting from polymer processors, as well as engineering industries, using polymer parts in their production. And also from raw materials manufacturers, distributors, machinery companies and mould manufacturers.

We interview important persons, to share their views on the development of these fields, both in Sweden and internationally.

We don't sit in the office waiting for informa-tion. We travel out to the industries and collect it. Are actively working to find the news.

We also conduct market analysis to identify the trends in the polymer fields. In example Arne Jacobson's raw materials reports, giving the price and market trends for the most important plastics.

This is done twice a year, in February and September, looking back on the past time and giving a prognosis for the price development the coming year.

Few editorial themes

The polymer industry is wide. Many processing methods, an enormous amount of materials, and with products spread all over all kinds of industries.

This is what we want to mirror, and we want to do it in each issue. To concentrate each issue to a lot of editorial themes is not correct to the readers. There shall be articles to read for everyone.

It's important to plan the advertising in periods that are the most attractive. Not just because an editorial theme in their own area. In such an issue a lot of competitors are advertising at the same time, which takes away a lot of the effect.

Normally, we have only one or two editorial theme in each issue. Twice a year about rubber, twice a year about reinforced plastics and composites. And of course our two plastics raw materials surveys.

Not to mention our issues, mirroring the polymer industries in the area of Småland and Norrland.

And of course special issues for exhibitions like Elmia Subcontractor, easyFairs Plastteknik and Scanplast. On these exhibitions we always have an own stand, where we, free of charge, distribute the exhibition issues to the visitors.

And naturally exhibition issues for the big international fairs.

The Editor
Editor-in-chief of Polymervärlden
is Arne Jacobson.

He has 44 years
of experience as
editor of polymer
journals.
This means a wide
network of contacts
throughout the total
polymer industry.

1967-72 assistant editor Plastvärlden.

1973-74 assistant editor Plastforum

1975-81 editor-in-chief Plastforum.

1982-1994 editor-in chief Plast Nordica.

Since then editor-in-chief Polymervärlden.

In total, he has written approximately 2.500 articles in the polymer fields.

The layout
With our layout we want to make it easy for the readers. Most people has limited time to read a journal. The layout shall help to get a fast insight in the actual issue. Four things are important in this matter.

The headline must in a clear way explain what the article is about, and what is new. It shall tease the reader to go on into the article.

The introduction shall give a concentrated conclusion of the article.

The pictures must be of high quality, with good and explaining captures.
To reach the highest quality for the pictures, and of naturally also advertisements, we print the journal on an exclusive, white coated 100 grams paper. The best we could find.

The layout is also important when placing ads. It must be easy to separate advertisement from the editorial. The ad must be an integrated part of the spread.

By reading headline, introduction and captures the readers shall be able to, in a fast way, get an information about the editorial in the issue. And then select articles they want to read from the beginning to the end.

Polymervärlden is partly a subscribed journal. Our distributed circulation is 3 900 copies, and we have two major reader categories.

2 200 copies are distributed to plastics and rubber processors in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. Important for advertisers of raw materials, machinery, moulds and CAD/CAM.

1 700 copies are distributed to the Swedish engineering industry, companies buying plastics and rubber components. Important for advertisers in the processing industry, but also for the raw materials industries.

Almost all copies are personally addressed, either to the Managing Director, purchasers or engineers.
